The daily game

Every day there's a new daily game, and everyone who plays it gets the same pieces in the same order. Play it as often as you like; your best score for the day is kept. Press Share and your friends get a link that opens the same pieces with your score to beat. Classic games work the same way: a shared link gives your friend the pieces you had.

Tips

Questions

Is this block puzzle really free?

Yes. There are no ads, no sign-up, no coins and nothing to buy. It's a classic 8×8 block puzzle that runs in your browser.

What does it save, and where?

Your best scores (one for classic games and one per day for the daily game), the games you have in progress, and your sound and vibration settings. They're kept in this browser's local storage on your device and never sent anywhere, so you can close the tab and carry on later. Clearing this site's data in your browser removes them.

How does sharing work? Is my score checked?

The link holds the game's pieces and your score after the # sign, which browsers don't send to our server. Anyone who opens it gets the same pieces and your score to beat. Scores in links aren't checked, so it's a friendly challenge, not a leaderboard.

Why can't I hear anything?

Browsers only allow sound after you touch the page, so the first move turns it on. Check the speaker button at the top and your volume. On an iPhone, sounds follow the silent switch and play alongside your music. Vibration works on Android phones that support it; iPhones don't let websites vibrate.

Does it work offline?

Once the page has loaded it doesn't need the internet, so a game in progress keeps working if your connection drops. The page itself has to load online the first time.

How are the sounds made?

They're synthesized live with the Web Audio API: a soft wooden knock when a piece lands and a rising run of bell tones when lines clear. There are no recordings or sound files.
